Tennessee State University Scholarship Foundation:
Renia served as the Fundraising & Community Service Chair for Delta Sigma Theta Sorority’s Alpha Chi chapter, commemorating their 20th anniversary with a mission-driven focus on charitable giving and community service. Thanks to her leadership, the chapter exceeded its $20,000 goal for a scholarship fund with the Tennessee State University Foundation, supporting future students and paying tribute to the legacy of her late sorority sister.
Mortar:
Renia and her husband (Chef Rob), were selected for the first Mortar × Kroger × P&G business cohort. For months, they worked hard to advance their business, Beyond The Grill Spices, by collaborating with executives from these prominent organizations.
This partnership between Mortar, Kroger, and Procter & Gamble seeks to support entrepreneurs from historically marginalized communities by expanding Mortar’s nationally acclaimed Entrepreneurship Academy. Through this initiative, the couple gained firsthand experience from senior leaders in various areas, including brand development, social media marketing, sales, and distribution, contributing significantly to our business growth.
Jack Daniels:
In 2021, Renia received the Jack Daniel’s “New Beginnings: Make It Count” initiative grant, a significant recognition during its first year. This business grant competition was dedicated to supporting Black-owned businesses in the Washington, D.C., and Richmond, Virginia areas. Ben Osei, Jack Daniel’s Marketing Manager, noted, “These grants are a means to assist Black-owned businesses that make an extraordinary impact in our communities.”
